Timeline
- 26 February 2009: Jenny arrived in The Netherlands! Flight KL-804 brought her from Manila NAIA to Amsterdam Schiphol airport, where she landed at 8:10 pm (CET). Jenny's husband and in-laws were waiting for her at the airport.
- 16 Feb 2009: Jenny received a visa from the Dutch embassy in Manila.
- 3 Feb 2009: Jenny had CFO guidance and counseling, a requirement of the Philippine authorities for emigrants.
- 2 Feb 2009: Jenny applied for a visa at the Dutch embassy in Manila.
- 13 Jan 2009: The Dutch immigration and naturalisation service, IND, issued a positive advice for the issue of an authorisation for temporary stay. This means that the IND has no objection to Jenny's visa. The advice was sent te Henk on 16 January, and received by Henk on 20 January. It will also be sent to the Dutch embassy in Manila, as soon as the IND has received the required fee.
- 28 Dec 2008: Henk's third trip to the Philippines, from 28 December 2008 until 12 January 2009. Henk and Jenny spent a few days in Jenny's parental home and a few days in Ormoc, but most of the time they were in Tacloban City. Hotel Alejandro was their base in Tacloban.
- 8 December 2008: Henk sent a Request for advice on the issue of an authorisation for temporary stay to the Dutch immigration service. What that really means is that Henk sent off a visa application for Jenny.
- 3 December 2008: The wedding is registered in the Dutch population register. Yes, it took four months to obtain a wedding certificate from the NSO, have it authenticated by the DFA and Dutch embassy, send it to The Netherlands, and register the wedding in The Netherlands.
- 11 Aug 2008: The Honeymoon was from 11 until 15 August in the Bohol Beach Club in Panglao, Bohol.
- 9 Aug 2008: The Wedding. Henk and Jenny married on 9 August 2008 in Tacloban City. See The wedding, Wedding photos, or A Tacloban wedding.
- 20 Jul 2008: Henk's second trip to the Philippines, from 20 July until 16 August 2008. Henk and Jenny spent a few days in Manila, to visit the embassy and for some wedding-related shopping. On July 24, they went to Tacloban City, where they prepared for the wedding. Their base in Tacloban was the Leyte Park Hotel. After the wedding there was just enough time left for a short honeymoon before Henk had to fly back to Europe.
- 9 Jun 2008: The civic integration exam is one of the requirements for a visa. Jenny passed the exam on 9 June 2008. Well done!
- 5 Nov 2007: The Engagement. In the morning of 5 November 2007, Henk asked Jenny to marry him, and Jenny accepted!
- 21 Oct 2007: The first meeting of Henk and Jenny was on 21 October 2007. Henk and Jenny had known each other for a while, communicating via telephone and internet, but this meeting on the airport of Tacloban City was their first real-life meeting.
- 21 Oct 2007: Henk's first trip to the Philippines, from 21 October until 9 November 2007. Henk stayed at Hotel Alejandro in Tacloban City. Henk and Jenny spent a few days in Jenny's parental home, and afterwards they visited Boracay and Cebu. The last few days of Henk's stay they were in Tacloban again.
